Sikkim Launches 'Road to Olympics 2020' Programme 

Sikkim Minister  of Sports and Youth Affairs Kunga Nima Lepcha launched a month-long 'Road to Olympics 2020' programme at a  press conference organized on the occasion of the International Olympics Day at the White Hall on 24 June. The main objective of the campaign  is to promote sports and spread the message of making sports an integral part of life. The campaign is being organized by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sikkim and the Sikkim Olympics Association in the collaboration with the Sports Authority of India.  

North-East's First 'inflatable' Covid Care Centre opened in Sivsagar

The first inflatable designated Covid Care Centre in the North-East set up in Swargadeo Siu-Ka-Pha Multispecialty Hospital in Rajabari was inaugurated  by Health Minister Keshab Mahanta in presence of Guardian Minister, Sivsagar, Dr Ranoj Pegu on 23 June. The Health Minister thanked the ONGC and Dr Dadasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakia Pratishtan (BAVP) for bringing up an innovative infrastructure to accommodate CVID-19 patients. The inflatable hospital set up in just two weeks has 60 beds in it, which are convertible to ICU with oxygen supply lines. The BAVP is a charitable trust founded in 1989 by a group of committed people to do humanitarian service and began with a 10 bed hospital in Maharashtra.

 Minister of Forest and Environment  Inaugurates new PAMY-G Colony

Minister of Forest and Environment  Parimal Suklabaidya inaugurates newly constructed Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas-Yojana (PMAY-G) colony in Panibohora Gaon Panchayat under Narsingpur development block of Dholai consistency in Cachar district a few days back. According th district administration sources, this is a first-of-its-kind initiative across Barak Valley undertaken to improve the rural housing infrastructure.

Flybig Airline widens operation in North-East

Flybig a new commuter airline in India has widened its operations in the North-East by connecting three States in 50 days. Flybig started its journey from Guwahati to Rupsi, Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh and Kolkata in West Bengal. Flybig is an industry partner government in realising policy outcomes as per the UDAN scheme aimes at making air travel affordable and widespread to boost inclusive national economic development, job growth and air transport infrastructure development of all country and States of India.
